Troy Police continue to investigate an apparent double homicide that occurred in the Needmore area.

Mark Kelvin Adams, 53, and Carla Leann Smilie, 22, were found dead inside a residence on County Road 7741 at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, when officers responded to a 911 call.

“Both were victims of gunshots,” said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough of the Troy Police Department. Both Adams and Smilie were declared dead at the scene, although police would not release details about the suspected time of death.

“That’s still under investigation,” said Police Chief Anthony Everage.

While police would not elaborate on the suspected circumstances of the homicides or the victims’ relationship, Scarbrough said “there is nothing that indicates it is murder suicide.”

Everage also said police do not believe other residents in the area are in danger.

“The evidence at this point in the investigation indicates to us this is probably an isolated incident,” Everage said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact the police department at 334-566-0500.
