Troy Police have identified the victims in what appears to be a double homicide discovered Tuesday in the Needmore area.

Mark Kelvin Adams, 53, and Carla Leann Smilie, 22, were found dead inside a residence on County Road 7741 at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, when officers responded to a 911 call.

“Both were victims of gunshots,” said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough of the Troy Police Department. Both Adams and Smilie were declared dead at the scene.

Scarbrough would not elaborate on the suspected circumstances of the homicides or the victims’ relationship, saying only “there is nothing that indicates it is a murder-suicide.”

Police are continuing to investigate the crime.
