The Town of Goshen is hosting a “donations only” pancake supper from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall.

Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy good food, good fellowship and support a great bunch of community-minded folks – the firefighters of the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department.

Goshen Mayor Jack Waller said the Goshen Fire Department receives a share from the county’s tobacco tax and depends on that funding, in a large part, for the operation of the department.

“The tobacco tax isn’t bringing in as much as it did and we’re trying to find ways to make up that difference, “ Waller said. “The pancake supper will benefit the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department and it’s also a way to show appreciation to our firefighters for all that they do for the community.”

Waller said the pancake supper will be a slash event – pancake supper/Neighborhood Watch meeting.

“Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas will be with us and he’ll talk to us about ways to keep our community safe,” Waller said. “A representative from the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department will give us an update on the needs of the fire department and information about the decrease in the tobacco tax funding and what effect that it is having. It will be a very informative meeting.”

The pancake supper will include a stack of pancakes, sausage and a beverage. All donations are needed and appreciated.
