Troy University’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade is set for noon on Saturday along University Avenue and everyone, who is Irish or wants to be, and those who just want to have a fun are invited to be a part of this fun celebration.

The 2011 St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be the 12th Irish celebration parade sponsored by Troy University.

“This is an event that our community really enjoys,” said Buddy Starling, parade coordinator. “Community participation makes it a great success each year so everyone is invited to join the fun.” Entries may be as elaborate as a dazzling float or as simple as leprechauns parading on foot.

“Parade entries may be floats, cars, trucks, golf carts, scooters or groups that enjoy walking,” Starling said. “We encourage those on parade to ‘throw’ items such as green beads, shamrocks, green derbies – anything Irish. We especially encourage businesses and organizations to throw promotional material.”

The parade route will be along the portion of University Avenue on the Troy University campus and will conclude at Tailgate Terrance.
