Montgomery will be the site for the next couple of games for the Trojans of Charles Henderson.

However, it will not be just one field the Trojans will be playing on in the Capital City.

Today, CHHS will take on Alabama Christian at Faulkner University at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the team in orange and white will battle St. James at Patterson Field at 9:30 a.m. in Montgomery and then head over to Riverwalk Stadium for a game against Brew Tech at 1:30 p.m.

It has almost been a week since CHHS competed against an opponent due to this week’s Graduation Exams.

The last time the team was in action was last Saturday when the Trojans split a double header against Hillcrest and Stanhope-Elmore.

While head coach Derek Irons would have liked to have played a few more games leading into this weekend’s matchups, he said he thinks his team has had some good practices this week leading up to the games.

“It’s tough anytime you have a big break, like what we have been dealing with this week,” Irons said, “but we can’t control that.

“We can’t play when the Graduation Exam is. We have had a pretty good week of practice, but it’s not the same as playing in a game. Hopefully, we will be able to snap back into game mode against a couple of good teams.”

As far as the three teams the Trojans will be up against, Irons said each will present unique problems for CHHS.

“They all have strong programs,” Irons said about the upcoming competition.

“Alabama Christian and St. James are usually  state championship contenders every year. But this is exciting for our guys to be playing at Faulkner and Riverwalk. It will be something a little different. Hopefully, we will play well and be able to enjoy the experience a lot more.”

Even though the team will be playing in marks made for players above the high school level, Irons does not believe it will be a distraction.

“We have to be careful to not get caught up in what’s around us,” the coach said. “I don’t think we will once the first pitch is thrown.”
