Emma Jean Brooks Hickman of Union Springs, age 79, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:00 am at Macedonia Baptist Church with grandsons Daniel Earles and Neal Singleton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Gray Funeral Home directing. A visitation will be held at Gray Funeral Home on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 6 until 8 pm.

Mrs. Hickman will be remembered for her many years as a waitress at Holmes’ Café in Union Springs. She was also an avid gardener and animal lover.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Hickman, Sr. She is survived by two daughters: Donna (Rusty) Earles of Troy and Melinda Hickman of Chino Valley, AZ; two sons: Donald (Gail) Hickman, Jr. of Warner Robins, GA and Lonny Hickman of Union Springs; 11 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren; brother Tom (Lillian) Brooks of Brundidge.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Earles, Jason Fisher, Dustin Hickman, Stephen Hickman, Jonathan Holder and David Maulden. Honorary pallbearers will be the remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
