Ethel Mae Crittenden

Ethel Mae Crittenden, age 82, died Friday, January 21, 2011, in Texas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10 a.m. from the Shady Grove Methodist Church with the Rev. David Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy. There will also be a 30 minute lie-in-state at the church prior to the service.

She was born in Texas and in 1955 married Zack Crittenden. They then moved to Washington, D.C., and later to Troy and then Georgia where she took pride in her ceramic shop. After leaving Georgia they lived in Selma for 27 years then in Foley for a time before settling back in Shady Grove in 2001.

She is survived by her aunt, Ethel Blessing of Irvin, Texas; her nieces and nephews, Bill and Judy Walker of Lago Vista, Texas, Harrison and Peggy Walker of Denver, Beau and Kimberly Bozeman of Shady Grove, Kristie and Josh Matthews of Bay Town, Texas, Tiffany and Brook Cannady of Fort Smith, Ark., Cody and Carley Bozeman, Colby and Caley Matthews and Kaitlyn and Hunter Cannady; and a sister-in-law Grace Guilford of Shady Grove.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Zack Crittenden Jr., and a sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Harrison Walker.

Memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Cemetery Fund or the Alzheimer Foundation.

Active pallbearers will be Bill Walker, Beau Bozeman, Billy Young, Orin Fannin, Joe Wood and Billy Chandler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Trotter and Bob Carr.
