John Thomas Carroll, age 75, of Troy passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011. John was a veteran and retired from the U.S. Army after a distinguished career. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Clifford Carroll and Susan Richards Carroll. He is survived by his sons: Kristopher Nolan (Stephanie) Carroll, Austin, TX; and Kevin Nicholas Carroll, Temple, TX; brothers and sister: Howard R. (Jean) Carroll, Orange Park, FL; Suzanne (Phil) Moore, Troy, AL; T.C./Carson (Lois) Carroll, Lincoln, AL; Clifford (Sara) Carroll, Pine Level, AL; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Troy with Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Honorary pallbearers will be the Baraca Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Troy. Active pallbearers will be Chris Carroll, Troy Carroll, Hunter Carroll, John Moore, John Fenn and John McClendon. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Troy or the Bethel Baptist Church of Banks Cemetery Fund.
