George Gumbie Jordan, 82, of Union Springs, died at his home Wednesday morning, January 12, 2011. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011, 2 p.m., from Eastside Baptist Church with Rev. Gene Bridgman officiating. Burial will follow in Perpetual Care Cemetery with Gray Funeral Home directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Barney Hill and Lizzie Mae Jordan; brothers: Oscar Jordan, Howard Jordan, Curtis Jordan and Alter Jordan; sisters: Vienna Jordan Capps, Doris Jordan, Clara Bell Jordan Russell, Lila Mae Jordan McLendon, Voncile Jordan Rotton, Dorothy Jordan Tillery and Maggie Jordan Warren.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie M. Jordan; children: Larry (Sharon) Capps of Union Springs, Jeff (Iris) Jordan of Richmond Hill, GA,

Bernice Jordan Thompson of Union Springs and Sherry Jordan Lewis of Troy; grandchildren: Jo (Kim) Jordan, Sam Jordan, Scott Capps and Angie Lewis; great-grandchildren: Alyssa Capps, Lindsey Jordan, Meredith Jordan and Norah Jordan.

Pallbearers will be Jo Jordan, Sam Jordan, Brad Driggers, Randy Roten, Scott Capps and David Jordan.

A visitation will be held Friday, Jan. 14, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Gray Funeral Home.
