“Lance Wave brings a tremendous amount of experience to the Boys and Girls Club in Troy,” Fox said. “He will get us up and going in such a way that we will be on a firm foundation when he leaves for Huntsville in April.”

Fox said the establishment of a Boys and Girls Club in Troy has been a yearlong venture but will be worth all the time and effort that has gone into it.

“The Boys and Girls Club will offer after-school tutorial programs that include tutoring, homework help, college and career planning and abstinence and drug prevention programs,” Fox said. “Lance can put the program on sound footing and get it moving in the right direction.

Wave is originally from Panama City, Fla., where he attended the Bay County Boys and Girls Club.

He traveled in Europe and Africa before attending Florida State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in international affairs and a master’s degree in linguistics and history.

Wave has worked with Boys and Girls Clubs as program director, club director, organizational director and director of community and special events.

For a time, he left the Boys and Girls Clubs to serve as executive director of a nationwide foundation.

The Boys and Girls Club of Troy is scheduled to open at the Joel Witherington Family Life Center in February and will serve young people ages 6 to 18.

“We will offer tutoring and an after school homework program called Power Hour, which is a supplemental tutoring program,” Wave said. “Power Hour is planned in conjunction with school assignments and is very beneficial to the students. We will also have several prevention programs and character building and leadership programs.”

Wave said he is looking forward to being on the ground floor of the building program for the Boys and Girls Club of Troy.

“I can’t wait to be a part of this new Boys and Girls Club because I know the difference it will make in the lives of boys and girls in the Troy area and in the community as a whole,” he said.
