Pedestrian struck by car

A pedestrian was struck by a car in downtown Troy early Thursday in what police described as a “minor” incident.

Robert John Newman Jr. was crossing Elm Street from the Court Square to Byrd’s Drugs at about 8:05 a.m. when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Holly Marie Turner, 19, of Hoover.

Turner had been turning left from Oak Street onto Elm Street at the time the incident occurred.

“She bumped into him,” said Sgt. Benny Scarbrough of the Troy Police Department. “There were no major injuries and he didn’t want to go the hospital.”

Scarbrough said no charges were filed in the incident.
