Shirley Barrow Montgomery of Enterprise, AL, died December 25, 2010 in Brunswick, GA. She was 75.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Searcy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cliff Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to: Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.

Born February 23, 1935 in Cardwell, MO, she had lived in Enterprise, AL since 1970. She was a devoted wife and mother. She cherished her friends. She owned The Book Store in downtown Enterprise for many years. She was very active with her children during their school years. She was an avid Wildcat supporter and was one of the first women members of the Quarterback Club where she served as an officer for several years. She loved sports and derived great pleasure from watching her grandchildren. In her eyes, they were always the best at whatever they were doing.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Billy John Montgomery and her son, Billy John Montgomery, II.

Survivors include two daughters, Pug Schwertner (Darrell) of St. Simon’s Island, GA; Gloria Blackmon (Allen) of Troy, AL; one daughter-in-law, Jenny Montgomery of Enterprise, AL; six grandchildren, Ryan and Mackenzie Schwertner; Tripp and Hunter Blackmon; Trey and Tyler Montgomery/ a sister, Maggie Boals of West Memphis, AR; a brother, Jerry Barrow (Betty) of Huntsville, AL; also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
