Jerry Preston Barron

Mr. Jerry Preston Barron of Troy died Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Troy Regional Medical Center, Troy. He was 67. Funeral services for Jerry Preston Barron will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Troy with Rev. Perry Green and Rev. Luke Lane officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 9-10 a.m. one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery with Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation for Jerry Preston Barron will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. Mr. Barron was born November 1, 1943 in Troy, Alabama. He attended Troy University where he majored in Art and Psychology. Jerry faithfully served his country in the U.S. Navy. He spent 18 years in Troy as an insurance underwriter and retired as sales manager at The Liberty National Agency. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Gaston Barron and Mary Eunice Matthews Barron and an infant brother, Willie Norman Barron. He is survived by his wife: Imelda Barron, Troy; 2 sons: Jeremy K. Barron and Nathan K. Barron, both of Troy; 3 daughters and son-in-: Danette Barron, Honolulu, HI; Dara (Lanny) Becker, Philadelphia PA; and Danielle Becerra, Ventura CA; 11 grandchildren: Sean, Cory, Megan, Sydney, Josiah, Sara, Kristen, Cole, Halina, Madison and Malia; 1 brother: Sidney David Barron, Brevard, N.C.; 2 sisters: Joan B. (Bill) Geouge, Statesville, N.C; and Christine B. (Joe) Murphree, Columbus, GA; aunt: Julia Patterson, Carson City, NV. Serving as pallbearers will be Dennis Adams, Jerry Baggett, Jim Woest, Lee Gentry, Mike Harrell, Mike Murphy, Marcus Sanders and Willie Cope.
