When Troy-Pike Habitat for Humanity does anything, it does it in a big way.

So, when Fred Johnson, executive director, announced Habitat’s Giant Cookie Sale, he meant a “Big” Giant Cookie Sale.

“This year will be Troy-Pike Habitat for Humanity’s 10th annual Giant Cookie Sale and it’s going to be a big one,” Johnson said.

The Giant Cookie Sale will be from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Dec. 11 in the Parish Hall at St. Martin Catholic Church on the Elba Highway.

Already, ovens all across the county are heating up to bake some of the best cookies by the best bakers anywhere.

The cookies will be sold for $5 a pound and that’s a great price for great home baked cookies.

“Not only will we have some of the best cookies that can be baked, we’ll also have candy, cakes, cupcakes and even pies donated to the Giant Cookie Sale,” Johnson said.

“Cakes and pies will have a marked price, as will any craft items that are donated.”

Those who bake or make sweet treats for the cookie sale may bring their items to the Parish Hall from noon until 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10.

“We have great participation from bakers all around the county but we can’t have too many cookies,” Johnson said. “So, we are encouraging all of those who enjoy baking and doing something wonderful for families who need a decent, safe and affordable place to live.

“We thank those who have baked goods in the past years and we hope those who have not participated before will help us this year.”

The Giant Cookie Sale is a fundraiser for Troy-Pike Habitat for Humanity and will support the “home raising” efforts for the 11th Habitat house in Pike County.

During the past nine years, the sales and contributions at the Giant Cookie Sale have raised more than $24,000 for Troy-Pike Habitat for Humanity.
