“This is the second event of its kind here in Troy,” said Lee Outlaw, one of the organizers. “Last year we had about 200 runners and raised between $5,000 and $6,000 that we donated to the Pike Regional Child Advocacy Center and the food bank at St. Mark’s.”

Outlaw said the group realized that there are many runners in the area who would like to run half marathons but have to go somewhere else to participate.

“The half marathon is 13.1 miles and we also have at 10K for the runners who are less ambitious but want to step up from a 5K,” Outlaw said.

The Troy Odyssey will start at the Troy University baseball field and end on the 50-yardline of the football field.

“The runners will be shown on the JumboTron as they cross the finish line,” Outlaw said.
