Robert O. McLendon

Mr. Robert O. McLendon, 79, of Brundidge passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery.
The family received friends Sunday, September 26, 2010 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. at Thrash-Keahey Funeral Home in Brundidge.
Funeral services were Monday, September 27, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Brundidge with the Reverends Bobby Hood and Dr. Ellis Bush, Sr. officiating.
Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Nell McLendon of Brundidge; daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Barry Allen of Tuscaloosa; granddaughters, Elle and Annie Allen of Tuscaloosa; sisters, Dean and Jim Brown of Phenix City, Mary and Tom Kennedy of Eufaula, Maureen Olds of Roanoke and Joyce Harden of Graham, Texas; brothers, Tommy and Sylvia McLendon of Clayton, Clifford and Carolyn McLendon of Clayton and Wilmer McLendon of Smith Station; sisters-in-law, Fay McLendon of Louisville, Gayle and Steve Riley of Clio and Mary Etta Ketchum of Ozark and brother-in-law James and Miriam McKnight of Elba.
Mr. McLendon was born and reared in Barbour County, the son of Zackie McLendon and Annie Bell Heath McLendon. He was retired Civil Service at Fort Rucker, member of Salem Baptist Church and a Korean War Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zackie and Annie Bell Heath McLendon; sisters, Mamie Sue McLendon and Lee Ella Dykes; brothers, Ralph McLendon, Henry McLendon and Dowing McLendon.
Pall bearers will be Steve McLendon, Darren McLendon, Greg McLendon, Keith Taylor, Terrance McLendon and David White.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials to Salem Baptist Church, P.O. Box 802, Brundidge, Alabama36010 or Sprayberry Education Center, 1324 Rice Mine Road, Northport, Alabama 35476.
