Services for Dora Lee Green Cordle, 86, of Millbrook, AL, who died Tuesday, August 10, 2010, will be held Friday, August 13, 2010, 11 a.m., from Zebulon Baptist Church with Rev. Donny Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Sandfield Cemetery under the direction of Gray Funeral Home of Union Springs, AL. A visitation was held Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m., from Gray Funeral Home.
Dora Lee Green Cordle was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leon S. Green of Perote, AL. She was a 1942 graduate of Perote High School. She studied nursing at Edge Hospital School in Troy, AL and became a registered nurse in 1945.
She was a lifelong member of Zebulon Baptist Church located in the Sandfield community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Basiel Edward Cordle, Sr. and by her son, Basiel Edward (Eddie) Cordle, Jr.; brother, Elbert (Louise) Green; sisters, Frances (Lloyd) Richardson and Agnes (Frank) Brabham.
She is survived by her children, David Randall (Rita) Cordle of Vinemont, AL, Cindy (Charlie) Pilkington of St. Augustine Beach, FL, Leon C. (Margaret) Cordle of Daleville, AL, Al (Joyce) Cordle of Higbee, MO, Rudolph P. (Janet) Cordle, Troy, AL, Elizabeth Cordle (Ben) Gross of Millbrook, AL; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Ed) Faulkner of Perote, AL.
Pallbearers will be Ernest Green, Steve Brabham, Danny Brabham, Mike Caddell, Walter Caddell, Shawn Sims, Jim (Butch) Richardson and Billy Gray.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Dora Lee Green Cordle to Sandfield Cemetery Trust Fund, 6153 AL Hwy. 223, Troy, AL 36081. The family would like to thank the staff and all the special people at Charlton Place Health and Rehabilitation who cared for her. They also give a very special thank you to Vistacare Hospice.
