An accident involving a motorcycle and an automobile caused one motorist to be hospitalized Thursday morning said police spokesman Benny Scarbrough.

According to a report by police officer Tony Bennett, a 2009 Honda Civic driven by Ashley Stacy, 24, of Adams, Tenn., appeared to be attempting to cross the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 231 when her vehicle collided with a 2007 Yamaha 1300 motorcycle, operated by Tonya Ericson, 37, Panama City, Fla.

Ericson suffered injuries as a result of the impact.

“She was transported to the Troy Regional Medical Center ER for injuries received in the accident,” Scarbrough said.

Hospital officials said she was eventually released.

Scarbrough said the motor vehicle accident is still under investigation.
