Three individuals are being detained at the Pike County Jail after they allegedly threw a meth lab from their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Billy Whithead, 32, and Randy Parker, 47, both of Abbeville were charged with manufacturing while Aletha Brown-Thomas, 40, was charged with possession of a controlled substance.

The incident occurred last Sunday.

“A deputy was on patrol during the early morning hours,” said Pike County Sheriff Russell Thomas.

“He observed a suspicious vehicle.”

Deputy Kevin Childs was the officer on patrol.

“As he attempted to stop the vehicle, they (the suspects) tossed a meth lab from the vehicle,” Thomas said.

The incident occurred just north of Brundidge on U.S. Highway 231.

Thomas said the suspects threw out a bag containing iodine crystals, hydrogen peroxide, coffee filters and other items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamines.

“There was also the finished product of crystal meth found in the car,” Thomas said.

Both Thomas and Parker were on probation while Whitehead had just got off parole six days prior.

Thomas is being held on $7,500 bond and Parker and Whitehead are each being held on $50,000 bond.
