To get into the state tournament, the Patriots had to win a play-in game, against Macon-East on the road back on April 26.

Thanks to strong outings in the pitching circle from both Kailee Taylor and Shelby Broadway, PLAS was able to hold on to a 7-5 win over the Knights and advance to the double-elimination state tournament.

Kingwood finished the regular season off with a 22-5 overall record.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams this season.

First round action is scheduled for an 11:30 p.m. start at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, with the winner facing either Hooper or Prattville Christian in the second round at 3 p.m.
