There were no serious injuries in a house fire that occurred on Hubbard Street Saturday afternoon.

“The lady that lived in the house was out, and they (firefighters) rescued her dog and administered oxygen,” said Troy Fire Chief Thomas Outlaw.

Outlaw said firefighters arrived to the scene three minutes after receiving a call at almost 2 p.m. Saturday.

“The fire was mainly in the front bedroom and living room area and it was contained to that area,” Outlaw said.

“There is pretty extensive damage to the bedroom area and the rest of the house was severely smoked up.”

Outlaw said the female tenant of the home, which is owned by Blonzelle Byrd, was at the scene when firefighters arrived and she didn’t have any idea what started the blaze.

“We haven’t been able to determine the cause as of yet,” Outlaw said.

“We’re still investigating it…the fire marshal is looking in to it.”
