Troy University Police arrested a man said to have fired shots behind a campus dorm about two weeks ago.

Roderick Givens, 18, faces charges of reckless endangerment in connection with this incident, said University Dean of Student Services Herb Reeves.

Givens, not a university student, was taken into custody around 4:49 p.m. Wednesday.

Reeves said the investigation shows there was an altercation between Givens and those toward whom shots were fired about a month prior to the shooting incident.

“They had an altercation earlier at an off campus establishment, and this was a carryover from that,” Reeves said. “It’s something that had occurred a month or a month and a half ago at a social event.”

The shots were fired behind Alumni Hall on Thursday, April 15.

Reeves said a firearm has not been recovered at this time.

Givens was taken to the Troy City Jail.
