Mrs. Mattie Pearl Corbitt Reeves age 80 of Troy died Friday, April 16, 2010 at her home
Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, April 18, 2010 from the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with the Reverend Perry Green and Dr. Luke Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service at the Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Troy and attended both Troy High school and Troy State University. She was a life long resident of Troy except for the seven years she her husband Hiram and family lived in Mississippi and Louisiana while traveling with his job. In Troy she was employed by the First Farmers and Merchants bank where she worked as a teller and later as head bookkeeper. She also worked at the Farmers Home Administration, and served as the head voter registrar for Pike County. She was also a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Troy.
She is survived by he children David and Kay Reeves of Troy and Mary “Honey” and John Hasselwander of Montgomery, grandchildren JoAnn and Jeremy Elliott of Birmingham, Alison Johnson of New Orleans, Kathy Hasselwander of Montgomery, great granddaughter Jocelyn Elliott, Brother James B. (Mary) Corbitt of Atlanta, a sister Elizabeth Thursby of Tallahassee, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband J. Hiram Reeves, infant son John Martin Reeves, parents Ruby and Martin Collie Corbitt, a brother and sister-in-law James Hugh and Yvonne Corbitt, and a brother-in-law James Thursby.
Active pallbearers will be Jeff Corbitt, Brian Corbitt, John Thursby, Steve Thursby, Dan Egecrane, Matt Thursby, and Jeremy Elliot.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or First Choice Hospice PO BOX 476, Elba, Al 36323.
