The first of two open houses for the City of Brundidge’s Comprehensive Community Master Plan will take place Thursday at Brundidge Station.

The public is encouraged to attend the come-and-go event from 3 to 7 p.m. to review and comment on the goals and plans of stakeholders.

Those plans have been developed by some proactive Brundidge residents under the guidance of Tracy Delaney, a member of the American Association of Certified Planners with the South Central Alabama Development Commission.

“Brundidge citizens have been very industrious,” Delaney previously told The Messenger. “They’ve worked real hard, their ears have been open, and they’ve been willing to look at alternatives.”

Some issues that can be expected to be addressed and presented at the open house are ways to promote Brundidge’s downtown area, a possible truck route that would avert 18-wheelers passing through around the city and redevelopment of housing programs.

Delaney said that residents of Brundidge are encouraged to come to the meeting. There will be displays set up and people will have the opportunity to leave written or verbal feedback on any of the elements of the comprehensive plan.
