Banks Middle School received a $1,000 donation from the Woodmen of the World (WOTW), a non-profit, fraternal insurance organization Wednesday.

The contribution will go to fund media programs at BMS such as the WBTV Bobcat news broadcast and the BMS award winning literary magazine Open Window.

WOTW is a 120-year-old organization that strives to meet its members’ needs while giving back to the community. WOTW Troy Lodge President Kenny May said that anyone who purchases insurance through WOTW automatically becomes part of the woodmen world. A $2 contribution is added to member premiums and is filtered back into the community through programs like adopt-a-school.
