Robert Grice

Robert Elwyn Grice, of Troy, Alabama passed away on March 28, 2010 at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama after a hard fought battle with cancer. Mr. Grice was born on February 27, 1940 in Colquitt County, GA. Mr. Grice served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962. During this time he served two years in Germany, the remainder of the time at Fort Rucker, AL. Mr. Grice worked in the textile industry for 28 years and was the manager of Pike Manufacturing in Troy, AL the last 15 years of his career.
Mr. Grice was a committed Christian and diligently served at Park Memorial United Methodist Church as teacher of the Seekers Sunday School class. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. Mr. Grice was also an avid Troy Trojan fan and enjoyed Trojan football in the fall, Trojan basketball in the winter and Trojan baseball in the spring.
Mr. Grice was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Annie Merle Grice and a brother George Stephen Grice.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Grice, three sons, Rob Grice of Enterprise, AL, Steve Grice and wife Angie of Birmingham, AL and Phillip Grice of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, John Stephen Grice, Adam Grice, Jordan Grice, and Eli Grice all of Birmingham; two brothers, Pete Grice and wife Agnes of Columbiana, AL and David Grice and wife Linda of Eufaula, AL; three sisters, Nan Newton of Moultrie, GA, Lenora Baker and husband Ed of Midland City, AL, and Mickey Walker and husband Kenneth of Byron, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy with Reverend Steve Rascoe, Reverend Danny Arnold and Minister Jimmy Matthews officiating. Interment will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 30, 2010 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.
Pallbearers will be: Eddie Grice, Chris Grice, Ken Walker, Scott Walker, Reggie Baker, Al Russell and David Hennigan.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Seekers Sunday School Class from Park Memorial United Methodist Church.
