Eagles top Squadron for first win

For the first time in two seasons, the Goshen baseball team left the field as a winner.

With the Eagle’s 4-3 win over Highland Home Thursday afternoon at home, GHS snapped this current season’s losing streak at nine games.

The team is now 1-9.

Going into the seventh inning, the Eagles led HHHS 3-2, however the Squadron was able to tie the game thanks to a GHS error.

In the bottom half of the inning, Joshua Dease was able to get on base while led to a stolen base.

Wes Davis followed Dease with a single that advancing the senior to third base.

Ethan Register came up to the plate with a chance to win the game and did so, thanks to a single into the outfield, sending Dease home and securing the Eagles’ win.

Antarrius Townsend got the win for GHS.

The Eagles were able to get the win despite only getting seven total hits.

Russell Thomas led the charge, going 2-3 at the plate with two RBIs, while Townsend finished 1-2 with an RBI.

Both Dease and Davis finished 1-4 on the night.

The Eagles will be in action again today, as it heads to Luverne for a double-header starting at 3:30 p.m.
