Rumors spread of teen’s status

There was no truth to circulating rumors that the remains of the missing 14-year-old Amber Price were discovered yesterday.

“They’re getting her mixed up with a girl out in California,” said Price’s father Chris Adamson.

Adamson was referring to a story that surfaced about an Amber Dubois, also 14, who had been missing since Feb. 13, 2009 and who’s skeletal remains were discovered Saturday.

Adamson said that news of the rumor didn’t cause him to panic.

“I already knew that it was a mix up,” he said.

Family members and authorities believe Price ran away from her home in Brundidge more than two weeks ago. Since then there have been no legitimate leads to Price’s whereabouts.

“We’ve been getting phone calls saying they’ve seen her but it hasn’t really been her,” Adamson said.

But Adamson is still keeping his ear open for any possible information.

“If you see her call me or call the Brundidge Police Department,” he reiterated. “Especially if she’s seen in Troy. I can be anywhere in five minutes.”

BPD likewise released a statement saying that anyone having information on the whereabouts of Price would be advised to contact their local law enforcement agency. The department warned that anyone found harboring a juvenile runaway would be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Anyone with information pertinent to this case should contact the BPD at 735-3333 or Adamson at 735-5689 or 372-8068.

They can also contact Price’s Aunt, Jamie Duffell, at 372-3050 or 243-5229.
