It came down to their last opportunity, but in the end Charles Henderson found a way to keep up its winning ways.

Trailing 7-5 in the top of the seventh, the Trojans were able to score five runs, four of which came off one swing of Jalin Lawson’s bat to down Northridge in Tuscaloosa, 10-5 on Monday night.

“This team has been able to battle adversity fairly well so far,” head coach Derek Irons said following the win.

“We haven’t really been presented with a chance to rally late in a game, the team was able to pull through with a win (Monday night).”

K.D. Edenfield led the last inning off with a single, followed by back-to-back singles from Nathan Barron and Mitch McLeod.

Quay Lawson drove in a run with a bases loaded walk to cut the score to 7-6 and a batter later, his brother, Jalin, finished the rally with a two-out grand slam.

“I didn’t think we competed well in the middle of the game,” Irons said. “But the guys came through when it mattered the most.”

The win was the Trojans’ ninth in a row, improving its record to 12-2 on the season.

“We have played really well so far,” the coach said. “But (the coaches and I) keep emphasizing that there is still a lot of room for improvement.

“If we want to be great, we cannot be pleased with what we have already done – we have to keep working.”

Blake Hutchinson for the win for the Trojans, while McLeod got the save.

Edenfield went 2-2 at the plate, with two walks and four runs scored.

Barron and McLeod finished 2-4 and 2-3 respectively, each driving in a run and scoring a run.

The Trojans will be back in action Tuesday afternoon as it takes on Tuscaloosa County at 1 p.m.
