Graveside Services for Herbert M. King will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at Carroll Street Cemetery with Rev. Larry Bland officiating and George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, directing.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2010, at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.
Herbert Marvin King was born the second child of the late Henry King and the late Roshell Jones King on September 28, 1928.
He received Christ under the leadership of Rev. Perkins at Greater St. Paul AME Church.
He attended Academy Street School of Troy, Alabama until his ninth grade year and was later employed for the Railroad. Herbert was also employed at Standard Chemical Plant of Troy until he joined the U. S. Army on July 24, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Eddie (Frill) King, Samuel T. King, and John Lee Brown, and a sister, Kate M. King.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a brother, Charlie King, Troy, AL; three sisters-in-law, Wilma King, Troy, AL, Doris King, Bronx, New York, and Annie Jean Brown, Detroit, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and devoted friends.
