Due to the anticipation of snow today, the 2010 AISA Elite Eight State Basketball Tournament has been pushed back to next week.

Pike Liberal Arts School had both of its varsity basketball squad in the tournament.

The girl’s game against Prattville has been moved to Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 9 a.m., while the boy’s game against Tuscaloosa Academy has been changed to 1:30 p.m. on the same day.

The games will be played at Huntingdon, in Montgomery.

While some coaches may be happy with the dates beginning moved, it is not the case for one Patriots’ coach.

“To be honest, we would have liked to play [on Friday],” head coach Steven Kilcrease said.

“For the past couple of months, we have dealt with playing three and four games a week and then we gained a lot of momentum during last week’s area tournament.

“So to go from all that to basically taking a week off before we play again is not something that is to helpful,” he added. “But we will be OK.”

The coach said the team had been working a lot on itself, rather than working on its opponent.

“We have been fixing little things throughout the week,” Kilcrease said.

“[After Friday], we will get back together over the weekend to prepare for [Prattville] one last time.”
