Services for Donnie Lee Byrd will be at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 31, 2010, at Elam Missionary Baptist Church, Springhill, Alabama, with Pastor Corrie Byrd officiating.
Burial will follow at the Churchyard Cemetery, Springhill, Alabama, under the direction of George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2010, at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home, Troy, Alabama.
Donnie Lee Byrd was born May 18, 1953 to the late Corrie C. Byrd, Sr. and Mary Liza Jackson.
He joined St. Mark AME Church in his teenage years. More recently, he united with Elam Missionary Baptist Church in the Springhill Community, Troy, Alabama.
Donnie served faithfully in the United States Marine Corp. He was honorably discharged on May 26, 1976.
He leaves to cherish his memory: one loving daughter, Tamika Byrd Kelly; three sisters, Geretha Jackson, Troy, AL, Cora Byrd, Newnan, GA, Mary (Cliff) Carlton, Opelika, AL; five brothers, Rev. Corrie C. (Susie) Byrd, Jr., Suwanee, GA, Freddie (Monica) Jackson, Kennedale, TX, H. V. (Joretha) Still, Auburn, AL, Bruce Anthony Still, Troy, AL, and Ricky Still, Auburn, AL; one grandson, Brian Kelly; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
