Gaynell Renfroe Brookins, age 87, entered into heavenly rest on Tuesday, January 5, 2010.
Funeral and graveside services were held Friday, January 8, 2010, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary,
Macon Road Chapel and Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, Ga.
Mrs. Brookins was born on December 1, 1922 in Coffee County, Al. to Charley and Elizabeth
Renfroe. She was a homemaker and avid cook. Mrs. Brookins was a member of the Gordon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her children, Linda (Billy) Hubbard, Ivey, Ga., Janice Allen, Troy,Al., Willie L.
(Tasha) Brookins, Ivey,Ga., Pat (Ricky) Garrett, Ivey, Ga., Ben Brookins, Troy, Al., and Barbara
Brookins, Milledgeville, Ga.; 12 grandchildren,18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-children;
her sister, Dorothy Sue Adams, Phenix City, Al.;sister-in-laws, Bonnie Renfroe, Ariton, Al., and
Edith Renfroe, Seagraves, Texas; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Lee Brookins; children, Mary Lou Arnold and
Betty Jean Brookins; parents, Charley and Elizabeth Renfroe; siblings, Edgar Renfroe, Rosie
Lee Weekly, Jewell R. Ward, Malcolm Renfroe, and Ralph Renfroe.
