God’s Way Baptist Church in Troy has a gift for every man, woman and child if they will only receive it.

From 5:30 until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, God’s Way will present a Live Nativity and Candlelight Service at the church.

“As our gift to the community, we invite everyone,” said the Rev. Chad Teal, church pastor. “The Live Nativity will feature the Bethlehem characters and a camel, donkey and sheep. It’s all right to feed and pet the animals and parents may bring a camera to take their children’s picture with the animals. We’ll have hot drinks and cookies and everyone to stay around a visit for a while and enjoy this gift. We’ll have heaters so you can stay warm so don’t let cold weather keep you away.”

At last year’s Live Nativity more than 500 people stopped to enjoy the wonderful Christmas scene and many of them stayed for the candlelight services.

“We’ll have two candlelight services,” Teal said. “One will be at 6 o’clock and the other at 7:15. We welcome everyone who wants to join us for these services. This year, we’ll have a interpretur for the deaf in order to make the services more meaning for those who are hearing impaired.”

The Candlelight Services include sacred Christmas hymns played by pianist Stacy Teal with orchestra accompainment iterspersed with scripture by the Rev. Teal.

The theme for the Candlelight Services is ‘Birthday of a King,’” Teal said.

“The program includes ‘Christmas Bells,’ ‘O Come All Ye Faithful,’ ‘How Great Our Joy,’ ‘Joy to the World,’ and many other favorites.

“Attending the services is optional and those who want to just visit the Live Nativity are welcome to do that. We just want to share the joy of Christmas with our community.”

God’s Way is located on Highway 87 (Elba Highway), one mile south of Highway 231.
