Jere Beck

Waynesville, NC, Dr. Jere LeMay Beck, age 66, of Valley Overlook Drive, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at Mission Hospital.
A native of Richmond Hill, Georgia, he was the son of the late Chester Keith Beck, MD and Frances LeMay Beck. Jere graduated from Troy City Schools, Troy State College in 1965, Medical College of Alabama in 1969 and received the outstanding Professional Alumni Award from Troy State University in 1985.
He retired after 30 years of practice in Troy, Selma, and Valley, Alabama. He was a past member of Rotary International, Friends of the Library, March of Dimes, and Fellow of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was also a member of the Alabama Army National Guard and retired Colonel after 27 years of service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville and a former member of the First Baptist Church in Troy and Selma Alabama and Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett, Alabama.
He is survived by his wife, Terri; one daughter, Jennifer Locke and her husband, Hunter, of Huntsville, Alabama; a son, Christopher and his wife, Susan, of Dalton, Georgia; two brothers, C.K. Beck of Milton, Florida and Ronald Vance Beck, MD of Smiths Alabama; and three grandchildren, Marte, Thomas, and Trae Locke.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett, Alabama with Dan Garrett and Gary Armes officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
