Enough said.

Any time Shelia Jackson takes the stage, it’s going to be a great show, said John Jinright, presenter chair for the Troy Arts Council sponsor of Thursday night’s “Shelia Jackson and Company” concert.

“We all love Shelia and we want everyone to come out and enjoy the concert. It will be a variety show with something for everyone and it’s going to be fantastic,” Jinright said.

The Shelia Jackson and Company concert will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10 at the Claudia Crosby Theater on the campus of Troy University. Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Troy Tourism Office and at the door.

The Troy Arts Council’s annual holiday concert was originally called a Christmas concert but is now just billed as “Shelia Jackson and Company.

“Although the concert features Christmas music, it is a variety show with about half Christmas music and the other half popular songs,” said William Denison, TAC president.

“Shelia will have instrumentalists with her and dancers from Troy University. Just what all, I’m not sure but it will be a festive occasion. Knowing Shelia it will be a great concert.”

Jackson said the concert will bring together some of the area’s finest musicians and singers and the outstanding dancers from Troy University.

“It takes a lot of very talented people to pull this concert together,” Jackson said.

“I couldn’t do it by myself. I’m very appreciative of those who take time during this very busy season to share their talents as we ring in the Christmas season as a community.”

The “Company” band will include Henry Everette, Larry Thomas, Tony Hawthorn, Eric Ward and David Everette. The background singers will be Dorothy Fayson, Haley Jackson and Tommye Cargill.

The Troy University Gospel Choir under the direction of Lewis Webb and the Troy University Dancers will be featured in the concert.

The first half of the concert will include a variety of tunes, from country to jazz.

In one breath, Jackson will play to the country music lovers with her rendition of “Crazy” and, a few minutes later, she’ll turn the tables with a classical version of “Summertime.”

“It’s a family concert so we’ll have something for everyone,” Jackson said.

After intermission, the music will be “totally Christmas.”

The concert will feature many Christmas favorites, including “Silent Night,” “Silver Bells,” “The Christmas Song” and the ever popular “O Holy Night.”

“On ‘O Holy Night,’ Lyra Crapps will accompany me on the piano and I’m very pleased to have her,” Jackson said.

“She is an outstanding pianist and everyone will enjoy hearing her play.”

Also on the program will be Q. Coleman from Atlanta, who will sing a traditional Christmas favorite.

Jackson would not say how the concert will close. She would only say that it will be a wonderful and uplifting ending to the concert.
