For the second time in as many weeks, the Tigers of Dothan High School have downed the Charles Henderson Trojans on the basketball court.

DHS was able to get the best of CHHS, winning 51-32 while competing in the Enterprise Thanksgiving Tourney on Wednesday.

The first loss came in the season opener, back on Nov. 13 and in Dothan.

The loss snapped a three game Trojan winning streak and dropped the team to 3-2 overall.

This was the team’s third game in as many days and head coach Carl Hollis said he could tell the team was fatigued.

“We were beat like a drum,” Hollis said after the game.

“We were sluggish from the tip-off.

“We didn’t play with as much energy and intensity as we had the past couple of game – I just think we were really tired,” the coach said.

Tigers were able to take advantage of the Trojans, as it jumped out to a 11-0 lead in the first quarter.

CHHS only scored just four points in the first quarter of the game.

Hollis said that he played a lot of his players to have fresh legs on the court, however, it wasn’t enough in the end.

“We were able to cut the lead to 10 points but we just ran out of gas,” the coach said.

“We have a lot of things to work on before our next game, including three throws.”

At one point against Abbeville on Tuesday night, the Trojans missed six consecutive free throws.

CHHS would not have a chance to help out its percentage from the charity stripe, as the team only had three free throws.

Senior guard Jaquani Toney led the Trojans in points with nine.

Senior forward Mitchell McLeod and sophomore guard Alex White also added seven and six points, respectively.

Senior forward Jabari Brown and Mitchell pulled down four rebounds as well.

One of the keys to the 19-point loss was the Trojans’ 21 turnovers in the game.

“I think we will be alright,” Hollis said.

“We are capable of doing a lot of good things on the court when our intensity is up.

“We will regroup on Friday, work on our weakness and begin to prepare for Greenville,” he added. “We are going to see what we are made out of against Greenville.”

CHHS will play host to Greenville on Tuesday with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
