The 11-U Troy soccer team saw its season come to a halt Saturday at the ARPA State Championships, this after falling to Prattville 2-0 in its second game of the day.

“This will end their run, but they fought hard and played hard,” said head coach Ken LaBrant. “I couldn’t have asked for anything more.”

The score was tied at zero at halftime, but Prattville scored two second half goals on a pair of penalty kicks by Derrick Gappa to take home the victory.

‘They scored on two penalty kicks, so it wasn’t like they just shoved it down out throats,” LaBrant said.

The match between the two teams was for a berth in Sunday’s championship game.

Troy rolled in its opening match, defeating Centre 7-0.

Centre appeared to be outmatched from the get go, as Troy ran out to a 3-0 halftime lead and continued to pour it on in the second half.

“They were very aggressive out of the gate,” said head coach Ken LaBrant. “They really kept the other team on their heels. It was a good game where we were able to give some of our subs a chance to play and give our starters some rest.”

Jack LaBrant led Troy with an impressive four goals, while Mark Jennelle, Sawyer Dunn and Slade Price all added a goal each.
