The Troy Trojans are riding a six-game winning streak thanks to its victory over Louisiana-Monroe this past Saturday.

The 42-21 win over the Warhawks improved the Trojans to 6-2 overall, and more importantly, 5-0 in the Sun Belt Conference.

Now, Troy will look to continue its winning streak on the road for the first time in several week against the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky.

Even though WKU has yet win a game this season, and have lost its last 16 games, Trojan head coach Larry Blakeney said his team has got to be prepared for a big game.

“Western Kentucky always has been a problem for us,” Blakeney said at Monday’s press conference.

“It’s at their place, on their Homecoming too. They are like everyone else in the conference – they are good enough to beat us.

“We are going to have to stay focused and prepare to get a road win,” the coach added.

The past two outings for the Hilltopper defense have not been the best as it has given up 60 points both times, 62 points to Middle Tennessee and 68 points to North Texas.

As a whole the WKU defense has given up 361 total points, an average of 45 points per game, while the offense has only scored 164, an average of 20.5 points per game.

While the WKU may have struggled against its opponents this season, the same can said for the Trojans for the past two seasons against the Hilltoppers.

The past two times the teams have met, although both resulting in a Troy win, have come by the skin of the Trojans’ teeth.

In 2007, the Trojans won 21-17 in Bowling Green while last season, Troy won 17-7 in Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.

“Hopefully, our kids understand what kind of a trap game this is going to be for us,” Blakeney said.

“The prognosticators will pick us to win big, but I know better.

“I trust our coaches will prepare well and we have a lot of leadership on this team. We are going to have to be ready to go on Saturday,” Blakeney added

The Trojans will look to stay unbeaten in conference play in Bowling Green, Kentucky when the two teams kick off at 4 p.m.
