Services for James Griffin, 73, of Troy who died October 15, 2009 at Troy Health and Rehabilitation Center was at 11 a.m. October 21, 2009 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. L. C. McMillian officiating.
Burial was in Union Hill Cemetery under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home of Troy.
Visitation was from 12 Noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
Mr. Griffin was born May 30, 1936 in Troy.
He was retired from Troy State University and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, farming, working hard and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Jean Williams; two children; father and mother, Lovie Griffin and Mae Bell Griffin; four brothers and three sisters.
He leaves to cherish his memory one loving and devoted daughter, Hope L.
Griffin of Troy; one brother, Joe Frank “Man” Griffin of New York; three sisters, Pearlie Mae Collins of Troy, Love Mae Copeland of Dothan and Ida Mae Hughes of New York; two special nephews, Lee Jr. Armstrong of Dothan and Lee Roy Armstrong of Pensacola, Florida; two brothers-in- law, Charles Williams of Detroit, Michigan and Travis Williams of Troy; one sister-in-law, Virginia Boyd of Detroit and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
