After a brief taste of fall, Troy residents shouldn’t be too quick to put up the summer wardrobe as temperatures are expected to increase by midweek.

“We’re going to get a little warmer,” said National Weather Service Meteorologist Michael Garrison. “It’s going to get into the upper 70s by Wednesday.”

Garrison said it’s going to stay in the 70s for the rest of the workweek and the weekend.

For those hoping Old Man Winter was on the way, Garrison chocked it up to just a early winter, mid-autumn cold front.

And, he said he didn’t see anything in the 10-day forecast as cold as Monday morning.

In fact, today the high is expected to reach 72, but with a calm wind becoming east around 5 mph, and a low around 46.

Wednesday the temperature is expected to reach a high of 78, and on Wednesday night cloudy are expected to roll in with a low of 53.

The rest of the week is expected to be a wet one, with a 20 percent chance of showers during the day Thursday, with a high near 76. Thursday evening the chances of rain will increase to 40 percent with the likelihood of showers and thunderstorms.

The low is expected to drop to 63.

Wrapping up the workweek, Friday will bring a 50 percent chance of rain and a high near 74.

Just in time for Friday night football, rain chances will increase to 60 percent and the low is expected to drop to around 58.

Rain chances are expected to drop to about 20 percent on Saturday as many residents head out to Troy University homecoming festivities, but it is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 72. Conditions are expected to improve to mostly clear with a low of 49.

The forecast calls for a sunny Sunday with a high near 72.
