Both Alabama and Alabama State were headed of Troy, with 61 points and 56 points.

As soon as the men were done running, it was the women’s turn to follow suite.

And like the men, the Troy women’s team finished in third place with 68 points, traveling just South Alabama, who had 66 points, and Samford, who won with 31 points.

Kelly Harrington led the way for the Trojans, as she finished with a time of 11:54.33, which was good enough for 13th overall.

Chalyce Stancil, Anastasia Limo and Allison Paulson rounded out the remaining Trojan runners with times of 12:04, 12:13 and 12:28, which were good enough for 18th, 22nd and 24th.

“Everyone ran outstandingly today,” Troy head cross country coach Stephane Hetherington said this afternoon.

“There wasn’t one person on this team who didn’t run well – everyone made improvements from earlier meets.

“We were strong up and down. Our middle runners really closed the gap between our top runners today,” Hetherington added.

The coach went on to say that his runner were not too effected by the weather, despite the drastic change in the temperature during the past couple of days

“We have run in a lot of different climates, hot, rainy, warm, so running in this was not too bad.

“A couple runners stiffened up early on in the race which makes it more difficult to run but overall no one had too much trouble with it,” the coach said.

The temperature was close to 40 degrees at the start of race.

“I thought we raced much better today then we had all season long, on both sides” Hetherington said.

“I think a big difference was the level of intensity and the competitive feeling to try and win at home.

“We did a good job of defending home territory,” he added.
