Pike County is going to be a busy place this weekend, with plenty of weekend activities for residents to enjoy.

The annual Pioneer Days is currently being held and will run through Saturday.

It’s the Pioneer Museum of Alabama’s biggest hands-on history event of the year.

The event will feature everything from a Wild West show to a Civil War reenactment to arts and crafts.

As an added bonus, Ozark artist Jack Deloney will be featured at a book signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

And the event is a reasonable price, $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for students in K-12.

Rex’s Fall Festival, which is known to many, is in full swing in Henderson.

This year marks the 44th year of the popular, bluegrass festival, and admission is $5.

“Celebrating Contemporary Art in Alabama: The Nature of Being Southern” opened Aug. 14, but there will be an artist reception Saturday at the Johnson Center for the Arts.

The exhibit will feature 41 artists who are recipients of the Individual Artist Fellowship by the Alabama State Council on the Arts.

Pike County Relay for Life will sponsor its “Fight Like A Girl” event Saturday, with a 5K run beginning at 8 a.m. and a one mile walk or run at 9 a.m.

The event will take place downtown on the square.

With all these events throughout the community, it’s a good weekend for residents to stay in town and take advantage of the many events going on in the county.

From arts and history to music and charity causes, there’s something for everyone to find entertainment.
