The Messenger announces the promotion of one and the employment of another.

Perry Brown has worked as a graphic designer for The Messenger since August 2008.

He was recently promoted to the head of the Creative Services Department.

Brown is a native of Troy, graduating high school from Pike Liberal Arts School.

Brown is a graphic design major at Troy University and will graduate in December 2009. He has worked to design award-winning special publications and top-notch advertising in his tenure at The Messenger.

“Perry is an enthusiastic, talented designer, and we are proud to have Perry as head of our graphics department. His commitment to excellence and design skills will continue to provide and enhance the quality of The Messenger’s products,” said Publisher Stacy Graning.

Brown is also an active member of the community, serving as a worship leader at Park Memorial United Methodist Church.

Greg Rossino, of Atlanta, was named sports editor of The Messenger in late August.

Rossino is a 2008 print journalism graduate of Troy University.

Since graduation, he has worked as sports editor at the DeKalb Neighbor, a weekly paper in Georgia.

During his time in DeKalb, Rossino had the unique experience of interviewing celebrities Conan O’Brien, Evander Holyfield, Matt Harpring, Eric Berry and Reggie Ball.

He also worked as the sports editor of Troy University’s student newspaper The Tropolitan while in college.

“Greg comes to The Messenger with eagerness to learn about the community, commitment to coverage of local teams and a passion for sports. I am confident Greg will be a valuable asset to the newspaper team, as well as the Pike County community,” Graning said.
