The “Glory Revealed” concert tour, featuring Mac Powell of Third Day and David Nasser, author/speaker is coming to the Claudia Crosby Theater in Troy on Thursday, Aug. 27.

The tour is a follow-up to the visionaries’ multiple Dove Award-winning 2007 release “Glory Revealed: The Word of God in Worship.”

Nasser described the “Glory Revealed” project as a blend of “roots-driven worship music with Biblical truths designed to musically stamp the word of God on the heart of listeners.”

The 10-city tour kicked off Aug. 19 in Nashville and will be in concert in Marion, Ill.; Tulsa, Okla.; Benton, Ark.; Atlanta and Mobile before coming to Troy.

Nasser said the “Glory Revealed” concert will probably be the biggest Christian event ever to come to Troy.

“I wouldn’t think that there has ever been such a long list of artists of this caliber to come to Troy,” he said. “We love college towns, and we love small town America. Troy, Alabama offers both. Normally, Mack Powell and Aaron Shust, Shawn Lewis and Trevor Morgan perform in much bigger venues. Coming to small towns is an opportunity for them to come to a smaller, more intimate setting and we really enjoy that.”

Nasser said there are several admission-free concerts on the tour, which will end in Birmingham on Aug. 30. The Troy concert free and is being sponsored by First Baptist Church of Troy.

Jared Cartee, First Baptist youth minister, said the “Glory Revealed” concert will feature a style of music that is popular among college students.

“College students really seem to enjoy this style of music,” he said. “It’s Christian contemporary music that is full of talented musicians. But it’s also music that most everyone can enjoy. It’s not quite bluegrass, but it has that feel.”

Nasser said anyone who enjoys the music of Alison Krauss, Amy Grant and Sara Evans will enjoy the concert.

“I like to say that anybody from seniors in high school to senior citizens will enjoy the Glory Revealed concert,” Nasser said.

The Glory Revealed II CD was released in July and features vocals from 21 different artists including Grant, Evans, Shane & Shane, Natalie Grant, Matt Maher and Brandon Heath. The CDs will be available for sale at the concert.

Nasser, who has conducted a seminar at First Baptist Church of Troy, will speak for about 20 minutes at the concert.

Cartee said Nasser is a powerful speaker with a message of God’s love and grace.

“We expect a big crowd,” he said.

“We’ve already had calls from nearby cities so the concert will attract a wide audience.”

No tickets are being printed for the concert, which is free to the public. Seats will be available on a first-come basis.
