Mrs. Vera Singleton, age 85, of Troy, died Monday, August 17, 2009, at her residence. Funeral Services for Vera Singleton will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, August 20, 2009, at Ramah Primitive Baptist Church (U.S. Hwy 29, Josie, AL) with Dr. Mallone Chandler officiating. She will lie in state at the church from 1:30-2:00 P.M. thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Ramah Primitive Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Skeen Funeral Home of Troy. Visitation for Vera Singleton will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at Skeen Funeral Home in Troy. Mrs. Singleton was born December 17, 1923 in Walker County, Alabama. She was a homemaker in her own home. She was the daughter of the late Major and Dora Hicks Driggers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Foy Singleton, a daughter, Betty Edgerton, and 1 grandson, Hixon Campbell. Survivors include a daughter: Dora Grissett, Troy; 3 sons: Wilber and Betty Singleton, Troy; Jimmy and Bobby Singleton, Dothan, AL; Wilson and Sharon Singleton, Troy; 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be Wilber Singleton, Wilson Singleton, Chad Singleton, Tracy Jones, Donnie Higgins and Arnold Mobley. Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Bradley, Rinnie Higgins, Ronnie Bradley, Kevin Singleton, Heath Griffett, Bobby Carpenter, Byron Childs, Eric Roper, Cecil Lassiter, Bryan Singleton and Staff of Alacare. The Family wishes to express special thanks to Alacare Hospice, Dr. Charles Wood, Pike County Home Health, and special friends, Patsy Langston, Margaret Sikes and the Stokes family.
