Mrs. Leola Murphy of Ariton, Alabama died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, in Ozark Health &Rehab. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009, at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Parnell and Rev. Randy Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark directing. Visitation will be held Friday, August 14, 2009, from 6-8 p.m. at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
Leola Coe Murphy was born November 19, 1918 in Muscogee County, Georgia. She loved sewing, fishing, yard work and especially her grandchildren. She was loved by everyone and loved everyone. Mrs. Murphy was of the Baptist faith and attended Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, B.C. Murphy, in 1999; one daughter, Alma Rovine Murphy; one son, Robert B. Murphy; two sisters: Maggie Pinkston and Mary Wade; and one brother, Lawsey Coe.
Survivors include six sons: James and Joyce Murphy of Ariton, Lorin and Joyce Murphy of Smith Station, John H. and Faye Murphy of Columbus, GA, Wayne and Diane Murphy of Ariton, Gerald and Gene Murphy of Brundidge, and Steve Murphy of Ariton; twenty-four grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; and sixteen great-great-grandchildren.
