A Brundidge woman will face trial Monday for the alleged murder of an 18-year-old man last March.

Shawanda Roberson, 34, has been charged with murdering Kelley Lee Holland on March 18, 2008, and will be tried before a jury in the Pike County District Court Monday.

“She allegedly ran over Kelley Lee Holland with her vehicle and then stabbed him with a knife in the back after there was some altercation between him and several of her children,” said Pike County Assistant District Attorney Tom Anderson.

Holland was found dead in the Shady Lane Trailer Park in Brundidge, where Roberson was a resident.

At the time, Brundidge Police Chief Moses Davenport said the incident was reported around 7:29 p.m.

Davenport said CARE Ambulance responded and attempted CPR and a life line but to no avail.

Roberson will be represented by attorney Brandon Coots.

The trial will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the Pike County Courthouse.

Juries were also selected last week for the trial of James Henry Davis, charged with robbing two local banks.

Davis is charged with first robbing Troy Bank & Trust in Brundidge in December and then the robbery of Colonial Bank in Troy in January.

That trial will not be heard until Aug. 27.

Deonicio Barragan, charged with trafficking more than 20 pounds of marijuana, did not appear in court last week to plea guilty or not.

If he pleaded not guilty, his case would also have went to trial this week.

An alias warrant has been issued for his arrest.
