The Dixie Junior Boys district tournament got another late start at the Troy Sportsplex for day two Wednesday, but the host Trojans did not start until after press time. The Troy recap from day two will be in tomorrow’s paper, but the Trojans beat Greenville 19-0 Tuesday to move on to the second round.

Troy exploded for 12 runs in the sixth inning to take out Greenville 19-0 Tuesday night at the Troy Sportsplex.

Troy jumped out quickly and scored four runs in the first inning and two in the second inning on Greenville’s 13 year olds in the second game of the opening night of the tournament.

Chandler Avant shut Greenville down through four innings for the win.

Avant, Tripp Blackmon, Chase Smartt and Blake Craft each scored in the first inning and Brian Adams and Morgan Shaver scored in the second inning.

Troy did not score again until the fifth inning when Craft crossed the plate. The Trojans opened the game up when Avant, Blackmon, Smartt and Shaver each scored twice in the sixth inning and Craft, John Johnson, Myles Loving and Adams each scored one in the inning.

Greenville 8

Eufaula 7

Eufaula and Greenville went to extra innings Wednesday at the Sportsplex in an elimination game, but Greenville came out victorious, 8-7 in eight innings.

Eufaula jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held a 6-4 lead late in the game, but Greenville tied the game at 6-6 and neither team could score in the sixth or seventh inning and the game went to extras.

Trevor Davis, Kyle Morris, Stephen Dollar and Nick Shelley all scored in the first inning for Eufaula. Jeffery Fuller and Zack Looney scored in the second for Greenville.

Lonnie Helton and Robbie Derrow scored in the third to give Eufaula a 6-2 lead. Chase Whiddon and Michael Smith scored in the third, Michael Myers scored in the fourth and Smith scored in the fifth to tie the score at 6-6.

Thurman Jackson scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth for Eufaula and Chip Taylor tied the score in the seventh, but Michael Smith walked to bring home Cade Tillery for the 8-7 Greenville win.
