Boys tournament opens at Sportsplex

The Dixie Boys district tournament opened up a day late Tuesday afternoon at the Troy Sportsplex, but the host Trojans did not start until after press time. The Troy recap will be in tomorrow’s paper, but here is what happened in other action in the tournament:

Dothan 7

Enterprise’s Dixie Boys team scored five runs in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead, but Dothan scattered seven runs across seven innings for the 7-5 victory Tuesday evening in the district tournament at the Troy Sportsplex.

Roquell Marsh, Charles Swicord and Gavin Gunter each scored in the first inning for Dothan to put them up 3-0. Robbie Stovehouse, Jody Watson, Billy Jacobs, Brett Dunaway and Tommy Stackhouse each scored in the third for Enterprise.

Davis Swicord and Ethan Holland scored in the fourth inning, Brandon Green scored in the fifth inning and Marsh scored in the seventh for Dothan.

Columbia-Webb 6

Luverne 1

Columbia-Webb had a shutout going until the seventh inning, but Luverne cracked the goose egg with one run in the bottom of the inning. Columbia-Webb scored one in the first, two in the third and three in the fifth.

Patrick Curry crossed home plate in the first inning, Jesse Driver and LaDarius Bryant scored in the third and Curry, Bryant and Joshua Clark scored in the fifth inning for Columbia-Webb.

Nick McMunigle scored in the seventh for Luverne.
